The other one is the reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" every Christmas eve. We have the same book we bought for our son for his 1st Christmas...we read it every year...he read it for a few years, and we take turns each year now. He reminded me tis year that we had to read it!Brenda Van Wiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08942479067895892759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6998642513449094998.post-75743956034000013612010-11-14T23:13:12.975-05:002010-11-14T23:13:12.975-05:00Logan - here is a few more traditions we do. Since we also have 2 older reading, it makes a nice time for the kids together. We also have a Christmas village at the top of the stairs that they set each year. We add a new house each year on Christmas. I hope this can be shared so they have some decorations when they go out on their own.Staceynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6998642513449094998.post-11218979486478121152010-11-12T15:08:10.920-05:002010-11-12T15:08:10.920-05:00Logan,

My favorite holiday tradition has long passed, and that would be the 2:00 a.m. trips down the creaky red carpeted stairs with flashlights glowing. The stifled giggles, and stops to hear if dad was still snoring, are some of my favorite memories. I have such clear images of you, Amity and I standing in the archway of the living room, visions of overloaded presents sending our blood pressure through the roof. That tradition will never be topped.
Love you.
-LaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6998642513449094998.post-49333246016628483992010-11-11T23:25:03.840-05:002010-11-11T23:25:03.840-05:00It is so much about tradition isn't it? Music is a huge part of my Christmas memories - though we rarely listened to Country music in our house, the Oak Ridge Boys Christmas always always always is the first one played when we decorate the tree. And just like Destiny I give my girls new pajamas and a new book on Christmas Eve, just like my parents did for me. We also love just driving around and seeing how the neighbors have decorated with Christmas lights. And of course, cookies. It isn't Christmas without cookie press cookies, the easiest kind for kids to decorate.Kristinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6998642513449094998.post-12515670291166461692010-11-10T20:38:42.233-05:002010-11-10T20:38:42.233-05:00Wow Destiny! We also bake cookies together every year on the weekend before Christmas and deliver them to all the special local people in our lives that have been a big part of the year that has passed! I think that the cookie baking is my favorite of all the traditions.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00067535681616087770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6998642513449094998.post-89336702366352175282010-11-10T20:19:20.162-05:002010-11-10T20:19:20.162-05:00My FAVORITE time of year. I have to tell you I eve...My FAVORITE time of year. I have to tell you I even beat you with my holiday music! I adore holiday music and so I declare my birthday (October 14th) to my father-in-law's birthday (January 14th), holiday music season. I figure it deserves a quarter of the year! Some traditions we have-holiday music, holiday movies, reading from our many holiday book baskets, cutting down our own tree, decorating, making ornaments and telling stories behind making them as we decorate our tree, attending holiday concerts, baking, shopping, attending various make-and-take crafting events, picking out holiday clothes, taking the holiday Christmas card photo, etc. We love going through the kids books and toys filling bags of toys that we bring to the emergency department at our local hospital for sick kids. We love having the cousins over for a gingerbread house making party and craft time. These are just some fun things we like to do before Christmas. On Christmas Eve, we always open one gift of a new holiday book each and jammies to wear to bed to wake up and open presents in. I can't wait to read about other people's traditions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6998642513449094998.post-27550480446999778482010-11-09T21:19:08.573-05:002010-11-09T21:19:08.573-05:00Logan..once again a wonderful, entertaining and in...Logan..once again a wonderful, entertaining and inspiring article. My husband and kids have moved several times in our lives. We go wherever Six Flags needs us! We have never had a Holiday with family that live nearby, only family that comes to visit. Sometimes it is just us. We have several traditions and some are more memorable than others. I mean we do love the one where the kids run outside at the crack of New Years but that is different in San Antonio, Texas than in Upstate NY. A little colder with snow on the ground. We ALWAYS have special treats that we only bake for the holidays. Homemade Chex mix, ritz cracker treats, cookies with icing etc. My 16 year old son said the other day, "I can't wait till Christmas so we can make all those really good snacks!" We decorate with mostly the same decorations but always find different ways to display them every year. I think one of my favorites is feeding the reindeer. Even though my kids are 17, 16 and 10 we all still do this TOGETHER! Thanks for sharing your family with mine!
Anne McCoyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
